Hey everyone! As you all know that I used to be an art teacher for 2 years and I LOVE ART! I love painting and sketching the most. I am in love with colours! So, when I heard that the Olympus PEN Lite E-PL5 has this amazing features where they have 12 art filters in their camera, I was like WOAHHHH ART ATTACK! ! I sure love art effects, it just makes the pictures much more interesting!
Now as you read in my previous post on the Olympus PEN Lite E-PL5, I was pretty much trying out the Touch AF Shutter feature for most of the photos. You can read my story here : Olympus PEN Lite E-PL5 review.
Well this time round I decided to try out the Art Filters feature which makes it easy to incorporate awesome special effects in your photos. The E-PL5 offers twelve Art Filters, including the new Water Color filter:
- Pop Art
- Soft Focus
- Pale & Light Color
- Key Line
- Light Ton
- Grainy Film
- Pin Hole
- Dramatic Tone
- Cross Proscess
- Gentle Sepia
Now, let's have a tour around my house. I capture all these pictures using the art filters that I like from the Olympus PEN... can you roughly guess which art filter I used?
Here's a photo of some of my clothes using the POP ART filter! I am so ready for Spring and Summer and need more colourful clothes in my wardrobe! Do you agree?
A picture of my room using the SOFT FOCUS filter to make my room look more dreamy :) My room is the most important place for me in the entire house. Marcus belongs to the kitchen, where he can cook for me :P
Using the PALE & LIGHT effect for my living hall to create a softer look! Can you spot Malibu?
Here's my side cupboard of my bag collection, Im using the GRAINY FILM art filter for this, wanted to create a classy Black and White mood for this.
A picture view of my swimming pool using the DIARAMA art filter! Now I seriously feel like swimming!
Photograph of photographs using the SEPHIA art filter to create a nostalgis effect.
Picture of my table counter with the DRAMATIC TONE art filer, mad love for Moet & Chandon
Remember how you used to paint with water colors in primary school? Well with Water Colour filter you can create that effect. There are 2 different settings. The Water Color I filter eliminates the darker areas in the image to daringly represent bright color tones on a white canvas, adding soft contours to express a world awash in color. Water Color II attenuates the contour lines so that contours are instead represented by gradations in color tone variation. Sounds technical? Well look at the photo and you’ll see what I mean.Remember how you used to paint with water colors in primary school? Well with Water Colour filter you can create that effect. Ta dah! A work of art, looks like a painting doesnt it?
Using one of my favourite art filter, POP ART :) I cant get enough of POP COLOURS! So beautiful
The Monochrome effect consists of a sepia/blue/purple/green color matching system to adjust the tone of monochrome images and yellow/orange/red/green monochrome filter effects to vary the contrast characteristics. This effect is available with the Grainy Film I/II and Dramatic Tone II filters. Wanna change everyone into blue Navi from the planet Pandora in Avatar? Now you can using this effect!
Lastly took a picture of sweet Malibu using the SOFT TONE effect :) Wanted her fur to look more soft and creamy
Can’t decide which filter to use? Simply use the Art Filter Bracket which can generate multiple pictures with different Art Filters with a single shot, freeing you from having to decide which Art Filter to use and surprising you with "unexpected discoveries" in ordinary, everyday scenes. It takes a while to process the shot though so use it only if you have at least 10 seconds to spare between shots.
A Slide Rec View function is also provided for sequential slideshow playback of Art Filtered pictures so you don’t keep having to push a button to go to the next photo.
Another cool function is the OI.Share function using the FlashAir card which I touched upon briefly in my first post. Simply insert the FlashAir WiFi SD card into the SD card slot in the camera, take pictures, and switch connection to ON. Then turn on the WiFi on your smartphone and launch the OI.Share application on your smartphone.
You will be able to view thumbnails of the pictures in the camera on your smartphone display, allowing you to select which pictures to import. After selecting which photo you would like to transfer to your smartphone (or you could just select all) you just click “Save” and the camera will start transferring the photos.
After that you can choose to edit the photo with one of the Art Filters and/ or upload it to Facebook, Twitter or other social media platforms. Amaze your friends with high-quality photos while you’re out and about! This is so easy to use and I could upload my pictures anytime, at anywhere. Also, don’t miss the chance as Olympus is now giving the FlashAir card for FREEEEEE when you purchase the camera!!!!
